Girl's Camp
So, from July 21st to July 25th I was able to go up to Mutual Dell for Stake Girl's Camp. I have to admit I like Ward camp better but it was still fun. On the first day, we arrived up and camp and first off set camp up. Then, we went to the amphitheatre where we were Welcomed to Camp by the Stake leader. After that, we watched a Book of Mormon re-enactment from the 20th ward (f.y.i. each ward was given a specific story from the Book of Mormon to act out). We then headed down to the pavilion where we enjoyed a tasty lunch and then we made these cute Book of Mormon covers as a craft. More wards then acted out their re-enactments. Then we had dinner, and after we YCL's taught FHE lesson to a group of girls. Finally, after a long day we got to to go back to our camp.
The next day Tuesday we had breakfast and a devotional before we went on a Hike. I went on the Hike with the second years, and I was not expecting the hike would be so hard. First off, it was like up-hill the whole way. The first and third years had their hikes way easier for them. But, the hike was worth it. The scenery was beautiful. It kind of reminded me a lot like Angel's landing but the trail is a lot narrower and this scenery is different than up in Zion's. I am so glad that I went though. Even the toughest of hikes can be the most rewarding. After coming back exhausted from the hike, we had Water games. The bad thing was I had to help my leader do a game, so I didn't get play with my ward. But anyways, we then were able to have Ward time. I really like Ward time, it is one of my favorite things that I enjoy about camp. After enjoying each other's company we went back to the amphitheatre to watch a couple more re-enactments performed. The stake leaders were so mean. They told us David Archuleta was coming and of course they made an excuse that he had a sore throat (oh please), but I heard they did actually call them, but that was so disappointing, but we still had a great person come to talk to us. Jill Stevens (Former Miss Utah) was able to come and talk to us about her experiences in the army and of course, being in pa gents. She even sang some songs for us which was very entertaining. I felt very privileged that a woman like her would come to our camp and talk to us.
The next day, Wednesday was very fun. We did a lot of fun activities. The first one, we did was Rock Climbing. I really liked doing it, except it made my hands sore and got my arms black. The next activity we got to do was Archery. That was something new to me, so it was a great experience altogether to be able to do it. The best activity was Canoeing. It was very fun. The funny thing was the leader said to not tip the canoe over but the majority of our ward did it anyway. Even our leaders got tipped over by some of the girls. It was great! At the evening program, we again were privileged to get somebody good, Sam Payne. I liked him, but I thought he was better when I saw him in Hennifur. Wednesday was a very fun day.
On Thursday, the only thing planned we did was the Humanitarian projects, which were making bruettes and stitching baby blankets. First off, we had a girl come talk to us about her experience of being able to go to Ecuador to help out there. We then got to perform our ward's re-enactment of Christ appearing to the Nephites. It was amazing. My dad played Christ and so when I saw him I was blown away. I didn't even recognize him at all. He played Christ so well, I am not trying to brag but I thought we did absolutely amazing. People came after to say how good they thought it was, so made me feel relieved, because we thought we weren't ready, but we did good in the end. The rest of the time, we had Ward time. During Ward time, we got to go on a zip-line. That was really fun. Then, we got ready for the BATTLE against the bishopric. That was so fun. We not only beat the bishopric but we CRUSHED THEM!! It was fabulous. Then, the bishopric were so nice to enough to come and cook for us. The food was great. Who wouldn't love dutch oven terrioki chicken, rice, corn-on-the-cob with homemade root beer. Before dinner, a lot of the girl's in the ward went and played Gorilla. It was so fun. Out of all the things we did this day I thought testimony meeting was the best. Everybody, shared their feelings, and I thought it was the best testimony meeting out of all the ones I have been to at Girl's camp.
After a fun and long week, we were finally able to come home and SHOWER!!!!! Overall, it was a great camp, and it was well organized.
